Interesting facts about the Palcman Masha

Palcmanská Maša is the largest water reservoir in the Slovak Paradise, covering an area of up to 85 hectares and it is also the coldest dam in Slovakia. The average annual air temperature in Dedinky is 4.7 °C. The maximum depth of the reservoir is 23 metres. The dam was built between 1948 and 1954 to generate electricity. Today, the reservoir is of increasing recreational and environmental importance in addition to power generation.

The unique conditions of the Palcmanská Maša dam, which is supplied with clean water from the mountain streams of the Slovak Paradise and the Hnilec brook, have created excellent conditions for the artificial breeding of rainbow trout and American shad.

Swimming, water temperature and boating

During the summer months, of course, we can swim here. The ideal access to the water is from the village of Dedinky. The water temperature in summer is about 20 °C.

During the summer season, boats, pedal boats and paddleboards are very attractive on the Palcmanská maša. The rental shop is located near Koliba Zuzana by the dam. Fishermen will also find a place for themselves.
