Hrhovský waterfall

The Hrhovský waterfall is the largest and most abundant waterfall in the Slovak Karst. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is located directly in the village of Hrhov between residential houses.

The Hrhovský waterfall is a cascading, single-track, travertine waterfall about 15 metres high, fed by a spring Phew.

The width of the upper part of the waterfall is approximately 2.7 metres.

The height of the upper part of the waterfall is approximately 6 metres and the lower part approximately 9 metres.

During its operation, the spring, by continuously depositing travertine, has created a layer of light brown travertine up to 16 metres thick, which is estimated to be almost 5,000 years old.

This travertine is located north of the village of Hrhov and partly under the village itself.
